What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes apart of us. -Helen Keller.
I open with this quote not only because it is fitting but because just by me saying it, it proves it's point. I remember this quote because my grandmother would have me pick up her used books to read for as long as i can remember, and it's a chapter beginning quote in one of my favorites. I have never been short on reading material I assure you. That was something she did for me by simply being the kind of woman she was. The kind of Woman that couldn't turn away a good mystery or a granddaughter who made some pretty big mistakes.
When i was 13 i skipped school once, My grandmother drove me to and from school every day after that until i graduated. When i was 16 and i told her I was pregnant she looked me dead in the eye and said You'll do just fine and the day i graduated she was there with bells on and my daughter in her lap. Any time i ever thought she may be disappointed in me i was mistaken and she'd let me know it. That's the thing about Grandma's...They love us anyway.
We are all here because at some point in our lives she planted a seed in our hearts. A laugh with a friend, a kiss on a skinned knee from a mother, a story read aloud to a child in a grandma's lap, we all have that one memory of her that we won't let slip away.
It may only be a brief moment when you smell a boiled dinner cooking on a sunday afternoon, or when your kid has a stomach ache and you tell her to have a little cola and peppermint, those are the moments when you will laugh to yourself and shake your head because those are the little pieces of herself that she gave to us for keeps. Those little pieces that assure us that somehow she is always here. Not just in our memories but in the things that we do everyday.
So even though we are sad today, I personally would rather live for that one moment where the little pieces of her come out and shine so that i can remember the person she was and the kind of person that having her in my life made me into.

Gram,
Although your time on earth has ended, your legacy remains. All the life lessons you taught me I will pass on to my son like who to cheer for on Sundays. I will miss you everyday and love you always.

Gram,

I feel truly blessed to have known the Matriarch of such an amazing family. Your quick wit and spitfire attitude were always good for a laugh. I will miss the banter and giggles that we all shared. You are and always will be loved and missed dearly. Hope you are dancing on the clouds with the angels. XOXO

Vi,
My memories of working with you at CAP are mostly of you making us laugh, while handling a crowd of people in the office ...while simultaneously being very adept at answering the constantly ringing phone. You managed to juggle it all without missing a beat. I would have been frazzled but you just kept humming along...tackling one crisis at a time. Amazing lady!
My condolences to your dear family and friends.

GG we will always keep you alive in our hearts with the memories we shared especially the last few months. So happy to have been with you each week and celebrating your 94th birthday. Christmas fair day was fun especially when we had lunch opened goodies and shared some giggles. We believe in eternal life and God only picks the best. "Heaven must be a pretty good place because you never hear of anyone coming back". Thank you for loving this little one. Please tell Grandpa, Nana, Grandpa and all our aunt's, uncle's, cousins and friends we miss them all so very much. Remember we love you very much too. "Sending you a pretty balloon, bubbles and lighting a candle every day
