Ashley Teat Obituary

Ashley Teat

Ashley R. Teat, 47, of Apalachicola passed away after a long illness on Sunday, July 31.

Born on October 3, 1974, Ashley is survived by his mother, Wanda Teat, and two brothers, Leon Teat and wife Claire, and Adam Teat, as well as four beloved nephews, Dalton, Dexton, Trenton and Drake Teat, all of Apalachicola: and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Eric Lee Teat, of Apalachicola; grandparents Oscar and Madelyn Crowson of Sopchoppy and Robert and Ethel Teat of Apalachicola.

Ashley was retired from the Florida Division of State Fire Marshall in Tallahassee and was formerly employed with the Agency for Health Care Administration in Orlando and the Florida State Division of Forestry in Franklin County. He served as a chaplain with the Florida State Fire Service Association and was a volunteer fire fighter with the Apalachicola Volunteer Fire Department.

Ashley was a graduate of Apalachicola High School and the State Fire College in Ocala. He studied at Chipola Junior College and Gulf Coast Community College. He was an assistant coach and chaplain for the Franklin County Seahawk football team, a little league coach and a member of Masonic Lodge #76 in Apalachicola.

He is well-remembered for organizing benefits as well as his faith in Christ Jesus and love for others. His favorite scripture was John 3:16. He was a member of Carrabelle Christian Center and was active in several Christian camps for athletes.

A Celebration of Life was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 6 at Carrabelle Christian Center with interment at Magnolia Cemetery in Apalachicola. An honorary procession led by the Sheriff's Department and VFD preceded the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Franklin County School football program in Eastpoint. Kelley Funeral Home in Apalachicola oversaw arrangements.

Wanda, I just saw this notice of Ashley's passing. I am so sorry. I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child. It is unthinkable. Leon and Adam, I too have lost siblings, so I do know something about that loss. I didn't know Ashley well, but the few times I met him, I walked away thinking that he was such a nice person. I know he struggled with weight issues and that was hard for him. Hold each other close and don't take a single day for granted. Cherish each other. Family is the greatest gift there is.

Hey Brother, I just learned of your passing today... I certainly enjoyed watching over the barbeque grill with you during the "Man-Up" Christian retreats at Camp Anderson. You were a great friend and a God Loving Christian servant, and I pray you are rejoicing with Jesus.
G0 rest High on that Mountain, we got your watch now.

Sending much love and prayers up for the Teat family. Although I didn´t know Ashley long, we became friends quickly. He was a very special guy. Lots of love, Maja Haupt, RN (Homehealth)
