Betty Boswell Obituary

ROYSTON - Betty Jo Mayo Boswell, born in Norwood, daughter of the late John Edward and Alice Lorene Jordan Mayo, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023, after suffering from long-term illnesses.
She was preceded in death by her husband and life-love, Bobby Ray Boswell; her brother, Larry Mayo; and Larry's wife, Paulette.
She is survived by her sister, Linda Mayo Ayers and husband Barry of Vanna. Betty and Bobby have three adult children, all married, 10 grandchildren with their seven spouses and nine great-grandchildren: Bob Boswell Jr. and wife Karen of Lilburn, John Boswell and wife Susan of Jefferson and Renee Boswell Brown and husband Larry of Lavonia; grandchildren, Josh Boswell and wife Sara of Blue Springs, Mo., Jason Boswell of Louisville, Ky., Jonathan Boswell and Joseph Boswell, both of Jefferson, Emma Boswell and husband Wilson of Athens, Jordan Boswell and wife Hannah of Danielsville, Tom "Buck" Brown and wife Faith of Washington, D.C., Carrie Brown Murphy and husband Myles of Nashville Tenn., Bobby Boswell Brown and wife Brianna of Spring Hill, Tenn., and Gracie Brown of Lav-onia; great-grandchildren, Cameron Boswell of Clayton, N.C., Bella and Parker Ray Boswell of Blue Springs, Mo., Titus, Leo, Layla Jo and Maya Brown, all of Spring Hill, Tenn., and Harper and Berdie Boswell, both of Danielsville.
While the dates of Betty's life, and the family she and Bobby raised and led, are detailed above, no brief paragraphs can capture the depth and breadth of her deep influence on her family, her church and the hundreds of friends and coworkers that she knew and impacted during a lifetime dedicated to others. She was a proud Army wife, having been stationed with Bobby in Germany and in multiple other locations. She attended business college after graduating from Royston High School, where she lettered in basketball. She retired from Oxford Industries in Royston, and served other local businesses and schools as well. Betty was a lifelong member of Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church and served the church for many decades in multiple capacities, including Sunday School teacher, secretary-treasurer, choir member and all areas of Women's Ministries.
She will lie in state at Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church Friday from 1-2 p.m., with a funeral service immediately following at 2 p.m.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to the Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 317, Franklin Springs, GA 30639.
