Ruth Barrett Obituary

Ruth A. Barrett, 98, of Easthampton passed away peacefully on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Linda Manor in Northampton. Ruth was born on April 2, 1926, to the late Charles and Sarah (Wood) Allen. She grew up in New Bedford, MA and attended local schools. She graduated from Saint Luke's Hospital Cadet Corp Nursing Program and became a Registered Nurse. Ruth moved to Northampton, MA to work at the Leeds VA Hospital where she met her husband, George A. Barrett. They were married and had many blessed years of love, memories and family. They raised three children, George, Margaret and Patrice. Ruth and George spent much of their free time traveling around New England, they especially enjoyed Maine and Conway, New Hampshire where they would visit Ruth's brother. When they weren't in New Hampshire they would be in South Dartmouth or Pennsylvania visiting her other brothers. Ruth was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Church and would contribute to their "Take and eat" or home delivered meals program. She loved to crochet and make hats and scarfs, she had a great love for flowers and took great care of her garden. Calling hours for Ruth will be at AHEARN FUNERAL HOME, 783 Bridge Rd., Northampton on Friday December 6, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with a Funeral Home Service beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Fr.
