Almeda H. Norwood, 82, of Woodbine, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 21, 1922, to James F. and Annie Mary Snyder Hilton, and was wife of the late Otis C. Norwood Sr., who died May 31, 1972. Mrs. Norwood was raised by her grandparents, Oliver P. and Annie Laura Snyder.
Almeda graduated from Damascus High School in 1940. She drove a Montgomery County School bus for 34 years, and was a member of the Hyattstown United Methodist Church, where she held office and was a Sunday school teacher.
She is survived by her son, Otis C. Norwood Jr. and wife Martha of Urbana; two daughters, June E. Gue and husband Ronald of Damascus, and Anna E. Ifert of Buckhanon, W.Va. and husband Danny Ifert of Pubelo, Colo.; six grandchildren, Ronnie Gue, Stephen Norwood and wife MaryBeth, Danette Johnson and husband Steven, Laura Grimes and husband Amos, Sandy Jewell and husband Matthew, Stacey Hahn and husband John (Rusty); nine great-grandchildren, Dylan and Katie Norwood, Amanda, Daniel and Madalyn Jewell, Victoria and Amy Grimes, Kyle Hahn and Christopher Johnson; one brother, Charles (Barney) Hilton; two sister-in-laws, Esther Hilton and Nora Hilton; and a godson, Richard (Rick) Boyer. She is also survived by her special friends, Vivian Howes, Martha Melton, Eileen Miles, Peggy Brandenburg and Rowena Day. Mrs. Norwood is preceded in death by two brothers, Oliver and Henry Hilton, and one sister, Nancy Gardner.
Friends may call at the Olin L. Molesworth P.A. Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Hyattstown United Methodist Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ronnie Gue, Stephen Norwood, Amos Grimes, Matthew Jewell, Steven Johnson and John R. Hahn.
