Anna Dykes Obituary
Anna Thalice Mildred Dykes, 68, of Frederick, went home to be with the Lord on October 6, 2005.
Born September 18, 1937 in Burkittsville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lucille Dykes. Ms. Dykes graduated Lincoln High School in Frederick, Md., class of 1955. In addition to raising her six children and four of her grandchildren, she helped raise many other children through her daycare center, Happy Clown Day-Care, which she founded after her retirement from National Association of Securities Dealers. She loved to cook, hunt mushrooms, write, read, garden, and sing. She was faithful in her church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Frederick where she attended church every Sunday, taught, and sang in the choir until illness intervened.
Ms. Dykes is survived by five children, John S. Hough, Jr., and Michael Hough, both of Washington, DC, Kimbalee R. Hough-Newkirk and husband Kenth of Frederick, David A. Hough of Forrestville, Md. and Angela T. Hough of Frederick; a sister, Thearl E. Dykes of Brunswick, Md.; a brother, Charles A. Dykes of Baltimore; a sister, Beverly J. King and husband Frank of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren, April Miguele, John Hough, III, Candice Hough, Rachelle Hough, Keith Newkirk, Shawn Johnson, Dwayne Hough, Malachi Hough, and Anisa Hough; six great-grandchildren, Destiny Bennett, Cyrus Miguele, Jadah Cosley, Elijah Hough, Ariah Hough, Marcus Miguele, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Dwayne Hough and a sister, Irene Henderson.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 10 from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N. in Frederick, and from 10:30 - 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 199 North Place in Frederick, where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11, Bishop Schwimmer presiding. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Summers, Jeffrey Ramey, John Hams, Michael Dykes, Kenneth Dykes, and Derek Dykes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kline Hospice House, 7000 Kimmel Rd., Mount Airy, MD 21771. Arrangements by Resthaven Funeral Services, Skkot Cody P.A. in Frederick.
