Benjamin Breeze Obituary

Mr. Benjamin L. Breeze Jr., 66, of Hagerstown, died Saturday, Jan. 26, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 6, 1935, in Bar Harbor, Maine, he was a son of Ethelyn McFarland Breeze of Manassas, Va. and the late Benjamin L. Breeze Sr.

Mr. Breeze was a career firefighter with Glen Echo Volunteer Fire Dept. in Montgomery County, retiring in 1979 with 21 years service. He was also a volunteer firefighter his entire life with his hometown department, which included Landover Hills Volunteer Fire Dept., Chillum-Adelphi Volunteer Fire Dept., Myersville Volunteer Fire Dept. and Boonsboro Volunteer Fire Dept.; and continued close ties to those departments as he moved during his life.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of Michael Clopper American Legion Post in Boonsboro as well as the Hagerstown Moose Club.

Mr. Breeze owned and operated Breeze Fire Apparatus in Myersville.

He also loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his mother are three children, Barbara J. Breeze of Reisterstown, Richard L. Breeze and wife Carol of Myersville, and Benjamin L. Breeze III and wife Vickey of Hagerstown; three grandchildren, Katherine P. Breeze, Samantha L. Breeze and Madison L. Breeze; one sister, Rebecca B. Trafton of Manassas; a niece, Diane L. Trafton of Herndon, Va.; two aunts; and one uncle.

Mr. Breeze will also be remembered by his ex-wife, Kathleen R. Breeze of Middletown.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29.

Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 839 Quince Orchard Blvd., Suite E, Gaithersburg, Md. 20878.
