Carl Burdette Obituary

Mr. Carl Wilbur "Snuffy" Burdette, 74, of Mount Airy, died Monday, January 22, 2007, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Edna Mae Allnutt Burdette, who died in 1994.

Born January 11, 1933, in Mount Airy, he was a son of the late Raymond William and Fannie Mahalia Mercer Burdette.

Mr. Burdette served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was the recipient of a purple heart metal.

Mr. Burdette was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Montgomery County Department of Transportation. He loved fishing, woodworking, gardening, cooking, collecting coins and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving him are four children, Sharon Brooks and husband Al of Monrovia, Carl (Rick) Burdette, Stanley Burdette and wife Sandy and Bonnie Burdette, all of Mount Airy; nine grandchildren, Scott Brooks, Brian Brooks, Kyle Brooks, Lauren Minor, Stacy Burdette, Ashley Burdette, Ashley Brigham, Mark Brigham and Susie Winer; special friends and neighbors, Helen Barnes, Sue and Dudley Aud; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Friends may visit Thursday, Jan. 25, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 27015 Ridge Road, Damascus, from 6 p.m. until funeral services begin at 7:30 p.m. Graveside services and interment will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at Montgomery Methodist Cemetery, Damascus.

Arrangements are by Molesworth-Williams P.A., Funeral Home, Damascus.
