Mr. Carroll Eugene Clabaugh, 79 of Thurmont passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD after several weeks of complications following bypass surgery. Born October 29, 1946, in Rocky Ridge, he was one of five siblings by the late George Reese and Viola Laura (Shriner) Clabaugh. Carroll proudly worked at Federal Stone and Claire Frock in Thurmont, Hood College in Frederick then back in Thurmont at Camp Airy and Brown's Jewelry Store. In his younger years, he enjoyed spending time with friends at all the local establishments in Thurmont. He enjoyed eating at Mountain Gate Family Restaurant and catching up with folks at local events such as the Thurmont Carnival and Colorfest, and events held at Mt Tabor Park in Rocky Ridge. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his 3 grandchildren, and driving around town to visit with folks and enjoy the local scenery. Surviving are two daughters, Laura (Alan) Spahr of Rocky Ridge and Wanda (James) Davis of Thurmont; three grandchildren, Josh Portner (Keri) of Ranson, WV, Ashley Davis (PJ) of Mt Airy, and Chelsey Davis (Wyatt) of Woodsboro; a sister, Shirley (Tony) Hurley of Fairfield, PA; along with several nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by many close friends and remaining relatives. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Richard, and Donald Clabaugh, sister-in-laws Donna and Margaret, along with several other family members, close schoolmates and friends. Mr. Clabaugh is at the J. L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave, Smithsburg, MD 21783 where the family will receive visitors on the morning of November 8, 2025, from 10-11 a.m. at which time service will begin. Interment will follow at The Blue Ridge Cemetery, North Altamont Avenue, Thurmont. The family welcomes and would appreciate anyone who would like to share any special memories of Carroll.
