D. Rohrer Obituary
D. Arthur Rohrer Sr., age 89, of Boonsboro, was called by the Lord on Monday, April 18, 2005 at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.
Born June 21, 1915 in Gapland, Md., he was a son of the late Jacob Moody and Charlotte Genevieve Grove Rohrer.
He had been a life-long dairy farmer, raising registered Holsteins on DAKAROH Farm, which he and his wife operated for over 60 years until his retirement in the late 1980's. He attended Boonsboro High School.
He was a life-long member of Salem United Methodist Church in Keedysville, where he served over 20 years as benevolence treasurer, trustee and usher.
For many years, Arthur was an active member of the Keedysville Ruritan Club and served as its president. He was a member of the Maryland Cooperative Milk Producers, the Southern States Hagerstown Stockholders Committee, National, Maryland and Washington County Holstein Associations, Farmers' Home Administration County committee member, the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service County committee member, and a former member of the Keedysville Band.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Katherine I. Bowers Rohrer; three daughters, Judith R. Williamson and husband Arthur J. of Boonsboro, Joan E. Rohrer of Hagerstown, and Janet E. Rohrer of Boonsboro; one son, Daniel A. Rohrer Jr. of Boonsboro; one granddaughter, Kristin Williamson Bucklen and husband Matthew C. of Newark, Del.; and one brother, Wyand G. Rohrer and wife Martha P. of Keedysville. He was preceded in death by three sisters in their youth, Barbara Emma Marie Rohrer, Julia Genevieve Rohrer and Katherine Malcora Rohrer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 22 at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Revs. Kenneth Fizer, pastor of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Martinsburg, W.Va., Malcolm Stranathan, pastor of Salem United Methodist Church and Patricia Drake, chaplain of Reeders Memorial Home, will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Keedysville.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
