Dale Young

1955 - 2025

Dale Warren Young passed away from a short battle with Cancer on December 16, 2025. He was born August 17, 1955, to Fred W. Young Jr. and Patsy Whittington Young.

He is survived by his Mother, Patsy, his beloved wife, Melanie and his Sister, Susan McGinnis, husband Bob, nieces and nephews, and many extended family in the area. He was predeceased by his Brother, Douglas Young and his Father, Fred Young Jr.

He was born in Frederick, MD and was a true Fredericktonian, with roots going back to the first settlers. There was not a Frederick native that he did not know in some way. He was proud to be from Frederick and knew a great deal about its history and was glad to share it. He played baseball growing up and loved the sport. He served in the Air Force out of high school where he learned his mechanical abilities. He had a hand for fixing just about anything. He was a craftsman. He remodeled and fixed many a home or business in Frederick. A Jack of all trades. He had a love for old cars and motorcycles. Collected quite a few. But his two main loves in life were his many dog companions over the years and his wife of 30 years, Melanie Blair Young. Dale bred yellow labs and donated the pups to be trained as service dogs and followed them to graduation and placement. Dale had a group of long time friends from Gov. Thomas Johnson High School Class of 73, that remained close through the years and enjoyed many a card game and get together. They were very special to him. He made friends wherever he went or whatever he was involved in. He never met a stranger.

Melanie would like to invite friends and family to a Celebration of Dale's Life, on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 2 pm until, at the American Legion Post 11, located at 1450 Taney Ave., Frederick, MD 21702. Please come with stories to share to honor Dale.
