Doris Leary

1935 - 2024

Doris Jean Leary, 89 of Winfield, MD passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024 nearly 4 months to the day of her husband of 68 years, James "Jim" Leary, who passed Sunday, March 17, 2024. She was born March 6, 1935 in Belington, WV the daughter of the late Hubert Fitzwater and Audra Mae (Hewitt) Fitzwater.

Doris was heavily involved in her church as a Sunday School teacher and volunteered on several other committees at Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Mrs. Leary was a Den mother with Cub Scouts and active in the 4H with her children. She enjoyed sewing, painting and baking.

Surviving are daughter Beverly Ann McCardle and husband Stephen of Frederick, MD, son Philip David Leary and wife Caryn of Westminster, and daughter-in-law Deirdre Leary of Eldersburg. Dearest grandmother of seven, Jody, Heather, Lauren, Ryan, Benjamin, Andrew, and Elizabeth and great-grandmother of eight, Jackson, Jemma, Jase, Brooks, Dash, Windsor, Mackenzie and Kennedy. Preceded in death by her son Stephen Paul Leary.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 3 PM at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 4901 Woodbine Rd. Sykesville, MD 21784 . In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ebenezer UMC or Bridging Life, 292 Stoner Ave. Westminster MD 21157
