Earle Vallier Hart, Jr., passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on November 27, 2025. He was born in Baltimore, MD in June of 1933 to the late Earle Hart Sr. and Winnifred Gosline Hart.
Earle was an athlete both in high school and in college. He was on two ACC Champion soccer teams at the University of Maryland in the 1950's. After graduation from college, he enlisted in the AOC program of the US Navy. In July 1957, he married Elaine Copes at Govans Methodist Church in Baltimore, MD, on a 6 day pass. Then he returned to his flight program.
After his honorable discharge from the Navy, the couple returned to Baltimore where Earle got a job with a medical publisher. After 13 years he left to work at the American College of Radiology in Reston, VA, where he stayed for 18 years. During the years at the College of Radiology, he and his family lived in the Shookstown area of
Frederick, MD.
Earle ended his work career at Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health, where he stayed for 11 years. In August 2000, the Harts were able to sell their house in Mount Airy, MD and move to NC. Earle was anxious to live in the south where he could play golf more months of the year.
In a community affair they heard about River Landing in a more northern part of NC. The development appealed to them because of the abundance of doctors and hospitals and its own golf course. They moved into River Landing in February 2011.
Earle was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Bernice Hart Smith. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, his daughter, Karen Cook (John) and his son, Jonathan Hart (Lisa) as well as 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother, Craig W. Hart of Baltimore, MD.
