Elwood Biddinger Obituary

Mr. Elwood LaVerne "Bud" Biddinger, 80, of Frederick, died Tuesday, Jan. 6.

Born Dec. 21, 1923, near Libertytown, he was the son of the late John Leslie and Carrie M. Munshaur Biddinger.

Mr. Biddinger was a carpenter for Washington Regional Council of Carpenters, retiring in 1985 after 50 years of service.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was a member of Glenn E. Eyler American Legion Post 282, Woodsboro, and AMVETS Post 2, Frederick. Mr. Biddinger was also a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1067, Frederick, REAC Eagles and Fraternal Order of Moose, Charlestown.

He enjoyed working around his house and yard and woodworking in his shop.

Surviving are a son, Ronnie L. Biddinger and wife Marlin Kay of Frederick; a grandson, Wayne L. Biddinger and wife Teresa of Eldersburg; stepgranddaughter, Sherry Lee Cole of Westminster; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Edward Sheldon, April Sheldon and Thomas Cole; a sister, Mildred Boone of Walkersville, as well as his companion of 40 years with whom he resided, Carolyn Stine and daughter Brenda Baker of Florida.

Mr. Biddinger was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10 in the funeral home with the Rev. Phillip Fogarty, of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown officiating.

Interment will be at Union Chapel Cemetery, Libertytown, with Fred Rudy, Wayne Biddinger, Mark Poling, Harold Adkins, Lee Dove and Rick Day serving as pallbearers.
