I met Emily right after she started working at Fieldpointe. I do not recall why I went to the Leasing Office. I do recall that, for some reason, we immediately started talking about dogs. Every time after that, we always talked about dogs.

I never envied Emily’s job, and I told her that. So many pressures from all directions. She made it look easy. Calm, cool, collected, organized, factual. I only have two of those traits and I’m twice her age!

When I received mail that belonged to someone else, I would go to the office and give it to Emily. She would look at the address and knew exactly what the error was. Think about that. Emily knew the name, building number, and unit number of hundreds and hundreds of Fieldpointe residents off the top of her head without looking the resident up on the computer. I can’t do that! Can you?

On March 8, I went to the office again. Guess what we talked about? Yep, dogs. On Wednesday, March 10, I learned of Emily’s death. Since then, I have been under the irrational belief that if I saw Emily a couple of hours earlier, she could not have passed away a couple of hours later.

Today, I went to the Exxon station to get gas. I talked to the clerk named Jess. She knew Emily and was noticeably troubled by what happened. Jess said that a Fieldpointe resident came into the Exxon station in tears after hearing the news.

Life is so very fragile. Unfortunately, we are reminded of this only upon the death of a loved one, when it is too late.
Emily girl, I sure am going to miss you. Strength to your family.

My condolences to Emmy’s family. I loved Emily like a little sister. When would hang out together, we always would have a great time laughing and being crazy. I miss her so much! Emmy was a great person with a kind soul. Emmy knew a lot of people as she had that outgoing personality that everyone loved and would make anyone laugh and smile. This world has lost a beautiful person and heaven has gained a beautiful Angel. I will miss Emmy so much! Fly high Emmy!
