Eva Weedon

Mrs. Eva L. Weedon, 96, of Point of Rocks, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Frederick. She was the wife of the late Reginald Weedon.

Born Oct. 23, 1911, in Point of Rocks, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ella Whalen Bowins.

Mrs. Weedon was a member of Buckeystown United Methodist Church where was a member of the Woman's Society, a communion steward and sang in the choir. She attended Howard University, in Washington, D. C. for two years. Mrs. Weedon enjoyed going to garage sales and working crossword puzzles.

She is survived by three children James H. Jones Jr. and wife, Vera, of Lake Wales, Fla., Aleta Sims and husband, Julius, of Powder Springs, Ga., and Sylvia Goldman of Jefferson; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters, Elsie Bowins, Jessie Bowins, George Bowins and Edith Proctor.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Rev. Roger Rollins will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
