Frances Stonesifer Obituary
Mrs. Frances Barrick Stonesifer, 84, of Keymar, died Thursday, June 15, at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Walkersville.
She was the wife of Ralph W. Stonesifer, who died in 1986.
Born March 31, 1916, in Rocky Ridge, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Carrie Hinea Barrick.
She attended the Mount Tabor Lutheran Church and graduated from Emmitsburg High School in 1933.
A 60-year member of the Grace United Church of Christ in Taneytown, Mrs. Stonesifer served as deacon and elder, was a member of the Helping Hands Sunday school class, taught Sunday school for 16 years, was youth adviser for 10 years and regional youth adviser of the Catoctin Association for two years.
A 40-year member of the Door to Virtue Chapter 94 of the Order of the Eastern Star, she served as an officer and was a past president of the DeMolay Mother's Club.
She was a director of the Carroll County Hospital Auxiliary, member of the Taneytown Republican Women's Club and a member of AARP Chapter 662 in Westminster.
Surviving are one daughter, Doris Privitera and husband Salvatore of Lincoln, Mass.; one son, James Stonesifer and wife Margaret of Rocky Ridge; daughter-in-law, Carol Stonesifer of Taneytown; six grandchildren, Marcia Flagg and Stephen Privitera, both of Framingham, Mass., Michael Privitera of Waltham, Mass., William and Nicole Stonesifer, both of Taneytown, and Timothy Stonesifer of Westminster; one stepgranddaughter, Christina Malat of Manchester; four great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Ogle of Rocky Ridge, and Mary Hendricks of Baltimore; and two brothers, Kenneth and Lee Barrick, both of Westminster.
She was preceded in death by one son, R. William Stonesifer Jr.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 19, at Skiles Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, at Grace United Church of Christ, 49 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown. Her pastor, the Rev. J. Keith DeBord, will officiate.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
