H. Deets Warfield Jr.

1931 - 2025

Mr. H. Deets Warfield, Jr., 94, of Frederick, MD, passed away on October 31, 2025, at Homewood. He was the husband of Juanita Seboda Warfield, his wife of 72 years. Born Sept. 19, 1931, in Claggettsville, MD, he was the son of the late Hamilton Deets Warfield, Sr. and Fairy Elizabeth Burdette Warfield.

Mr. Warfield graduated from Damascus High School in 1949. He then attended Montgomery College. While going to school he worked at Warfield Chevrolet in Mt. Airy. In 1951 he went to work at Fort Detrick in Frederick, MD., as a chemical test unit operator. He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954, as an explosive disposal specialist attaining the rank of Sergeant. In 1955 he and his father opened Damascus Motor Co. He obtained a Chevrolet franchise in his name in 1958. Over the years the dealership won many awards for excellence in sales, service and customer satisfaction to their many loyal customers, thanks to a superb staff of outstanding employees. He was a member of the Maryland Auto Trade Association and the National Automobile Dealers Association. He was a Life Member of the Automotive Hall of Fame. In 2008 Chevrolet and GMAC recognized him for fifty years of outstanding sales and service.

He was a lifelong member of Montgomery United Methodist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher and on many committees and as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He was a Life Member of The Damascus Volunteer Fire Department where he served as President, Treasurer, Captain and Carnival Chairman. He was a founding director of the Damascus Utilities Co., bringing public water to Damascus for the first time. He served as President of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Damascus American Legion Post 171 for more than 50 years. He served two terms as a Trustee of the Community Foundation of Frederick County.

As a banker for over 25 years, Mr. Warfield served on the Board of Directors of Citizens Savings Bank, now M&T Bank, and Farmers & Mechanics National Bank, now PNC. He served as Chairman of the Mt. Airy, Damascus and New Market Farmers and Mechanics Advisory Board.

Deets and Juanita enjoyed traveling together, visiting all 50 states and many foreign countries. They also enjoyed big band music and often visited Glenn Miller's hometown in Clarinda, Iowa for the annual Big Band Music Festival.



In addition to his wife Juanita, he is survived by his daughter Teresa Cooley and her husband Gordon of Ijamsville, MD and son H. David Warfield and his wife Bonnie of Venice, FL, grandchildren Adam Cooley and his husband Mitchell of San Diego, CA, Allison Cooley Hartwigsen and her husband Dustin, of Frederick, MD, great grandson Noah Hartwigsen, great granddaughter Lainie Hartwigsen, step grandson Thomas Adams and his daughter April, and a sister, Joyce Rhodes (Edmond deceased).

Friends may visit from 12:30 -2 PM on Monday, November 10, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702 where funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM. Interment will be private at Mount Olivet Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum 515 South Market St., Frederick, MD.
