Harold Zecher Obituary
Richard was born on June 16, 1938 in Burkittsville, Maryland to Harold Wilmer and Sarah Katherine Zecher.
He was the loving husband of Anna Mae Zecher for 62 years,whom he married on December 10, 1960.
Richard graduated from Middletown High School in 1956. After graduation, he served in the National Guard and went on to spend over 50 years
employed with Hechinger's and Lowe's.
Richard was actively involved in the Jefferson community throughout his life. He was a member of the Jefferson Ruritan Club, Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company, Frederick Elks Club, Brunswick Eagles Aerie #1136, Frederick American Legion, and the Maryland Region 29th Division Association Inc. He served on the Board of Directors for the Jefferson Ruritan Club and the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company. Recently, he was presented with the Honorary Board of Directors award for the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company.
In addition to his wife, Anna Mae, he is survived by his daughter, Angela Lynn Kline and husband, Steve. Richard treasured his three grandchildren, Chelsey Lynn Shaw (Adam), Stephanie Lauren Kline (Cole), and Andrew Zecher Kline (Kelsey) and his two beautiful great granddaughters, Savannah Rose Shaw and Riley Grace Kline. He is also survived by his brother, Ronald Zecher, wife, Debbie and family.
Richard loved the outdoors and spent much of his time hunting, fishing, watching wildlife and riding snowmobiles. He loved to travel with his family,
especially to Disney World. In addition, Richard enjoyed calling bingo at the annual Jefferson carnival, helping with community fundraisers, golfing and spending time at his cabin on the Potomac River.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Stauffer's Funeral Home,1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick Maryland 21702.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 12:00pm at the Jefferson Lutheran Cemetery in Jefferson, Maryland. A Celebration of Life will be held following the service at the Jefferson Community Center.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Sunrise Senior Living for taking excellent care of Richard since March. He truly loved each and every staff member there as if they were family.
