Harry Gastley Obituary
He was born on June 2, 1943, in Frederick, MD, to the late Ralph L. Gastley and Mary Shankle Gastley. He was the beloved husband of Talova Davis.
Harry was a 1961 graduate of Frederick High School. He received his BA from the University of Maryland of College Park in 1966, and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1969, as well as a Master in Labor Law from Georgetown University. Harry practiced law for firms in Virginia and California, prior to his employment by the U.S. Department of Justice later in his career, and was a member of the Maryland, Nevada and California Bars. Prior to his D.O.J. retirement (33 years) in May 2011, Harry served D.O.J. in several capacities, including as an Immigration Judge (beginning in 1998).
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his brother Ralph L. Gastley, Jr.
Harry is survived by his wife Talova Davis of Reno, Nevada; brother Michael Joseph Gastley and wife Betty of Frederick, MD; sister-in-law Carolyn Baker Gastley of Jefferson, MD; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held for Mr. Gastley at a later date. Harry L. Gastley

I was sorry to see Harry's passing today. I appeared before Judge Gastley in Immigration Court in Los Angeles and he later became a friend. He was a very fine jurist and a really good man. Condolences to his family. Godspeed and God bless Harry. RIP.

Harry was a close friend of mine, especially in high school and college. We had many classes together in high school and often
would hang out together after school and during the summers, especially with a close mutual friend Adrian Winpigler. We all had many laughs together in what was a simpler time. Harry asked me to be his best man at his wedding, for which I was happy to accommodate him. I don't believe our paths crossed again after that wedding, but I have many fond memories of Harry. He was a good person and a good friend. RIP
