Mr. Harvey Leslie Blank, Jr., 89, of Rocky Springs Road, Frederick, passed away Friday, Sept 19 at the Glade Valley Nursing Home. His wife of 49 years, Betty Lee Stull Blank, preceded him in death January 7, 1995. He had been a resident of Somerford Assisted Living, Frederick, and most recently at Glade Valley Nursing Home due to Parkinsons.

Born September 16, 1925, he was the son of the late Harvey Leslie Blank, Sr. and Olive Mae Stup of Frederick. He was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley (Buddy) Blank. Mr. Blank was a faithful member of the Edgewood Church of God, Frederick. He had been an active member of the church since 1981, holding the positions of Trustee, Deacon, Elder and a member of the choir for many years before his illness.

In his early years he worked for his Uncle Wilfred Blank as a brick mason until he joined the Army in 1944. After his discharge from the Army in 1946 he continued as a brick mason until he started his own Mason Contracting business in 1955. Mr. Blank was a successful and well-known mason contractor in the Frederick area until his retirement in 1991. For many years Mr. Blank was an avid trap shooter and member of the Thurmont Sportsman and Conservation Club, Thurmont, MD. He also enjoyed deer hunting season until his declining years.

He is survived by two daughters, Diana Sanner, Vanessa Thomas and husband Paul; four grandchildren, Leslie Wachter of Frederick, Scott Sanner and wife Sonia of Australia, Zachary Thomas and wife Angela of West Virginia and Lauren Marchone and husband Mike of Urbana and 5 great grandchildren, Jakob Wachter, Madison Thomas, Austin Thomas, Gavin Marchone and Noah Sanner. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law George R. Sanner in 2013, husband of Diana. His passing leaves much sorrow in the hearts of his daughters, his church family and all of those close to him.

Family and friends may call at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, on Tuesday, September 23, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral Services will be held at the Edgewood Church of God on Wednesday, September 24, at 11:00. Pastor Joseph Burdette, Sr. will preside. Pallbearers will be Donald Hanshew, Wayne Hanshew, Paul Thomas, Dave Mayo, James Shafer and Dallas Summers. Interment will be at the Rocky Springs Cemetery, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Edgewood Church of God, 8204 Edgewood Church Road, Frederick, MD 21702 in memory of Harvey Blank.
