James Allingham

Mr. James Michael Allingham, 55, of Mount Airy, died Saturday, Nov. 22, at his home.

He was the husband of Geraldine M. Cazzola Allingham, his wife of 32 years.

Born Feb. 16, 1948, in Glendale, Calif., he was the son of John and Patricia Clarke Allingham of Chevy Chase.

He was a machinist for the U.S. government, retiring in 2001 after 25 years of service at National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg.

Mr. Allingham served in the U.S. Navy as a diver.

He was a member of the Brass Anchor Scuba Club in Frederick, a sharpshooter with the Izaak Walton League and a life member of the National Rifle Association. Mr. Allingham was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and scuba diving. He was also an accomplished woodworker. He was a Washington Redskins fan.

Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are one son, Nicholas S. Allingham of Mount Airy; one sister, Shiela Bushnell and husband Ron of Germantown; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mount Airy. A prayer service will begin at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Allison Quinn, of St. David's Episcopal Church in Washington, officiating.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at St. David's Episcopal Church, 5150 Macomb St., N.W., Washington.

Inurnment with military honors will be held in the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19. Those wishing to attend should meet at the Administration Building at 9:30 a.m.
