James W. Angleberger

1939 - 2025

James Wilbur Angleberger, age 85, of Thurmont, Maryland, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, April 18, 2025.

Born on June 21, 1939, on his family's farm near Mt. Airy, he was the son of the late Emory Willard and Stella Mae Dove Angleberger. He was the devoted husband of the late Honey Lee Angleberger, his beloved wife of 60 years, who preceded him in death in 2017.

James is survived by his children: Janice Carpenter and husband Doc of Roseville, OH; Sally Snedden of Las Vegas, NV; Douglas Angleberger of Thurmont; Gary Angleberger of Walkersville; Marc Angleberger and Leslie Coats; and Jody Angleberger and wife Missy, all of New Midway. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and siblings: Shirley Bane of Thurmont, Doris Wilson and husband Kenny of Mt. Airy, and Wayne Angleberger and wife Jean of Woodsboro.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kortney Angleberger.

James retired from Southern States in Woodsboro, where he worked as a bulk feed truck driver. He was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in coon and deer hunting, fishing, and raising his beloved polydactyl Manx cats. Known for his sense of humor, James cherished time spent with family-especially during cookouts and picnics.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Tuesday, April 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main Street, Woodsboro. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 23, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev . Dahl Drenning will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Woodsboro.
