John Brewer Obituary
John was an avid Maryland Terps and Baltimore Ravens fan. He graduated from Governor Thomas Johnson High School in 1970 where he was an accomplished musician. One of his proudest accomplishments as a youth was obtaining Boy Scouts highest honor, the coveted Eagle award, with Troop 799 (Fort Detrick). He left the Frederick area to study jazz at North Texas State University in Denton, TX. He left college to tour and record with the group, Up With People. After Up with People he worked at MCA records. While with MCA, he received a gold record working with The Who ("The Kids Are Alright", album). He also road-managed Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels.
John was preceded in death by his brothers James and Douglas. John is survived by daughter Stanzi Brewer Bravo, grandson Damian Francis, and brothers Theodore and Thomas, and many close friends. As well as his beloved cats "Conway" and "Freddie" and dogs "GiGi" and "Guki".

I met John on my first day at North Texas State, hanging out in front of our dorm, Kendall Hall. We ( John, Fritz, Brad, Constance, and I) had a great time together at NTSU. John was crazy about the heavy rock band, Vanilla Fudge, especially their rhythm section Tim Bogert (bass) and Carmine Appice (drums). John was a great guy and would do anything to help a friend. John was a great musician, playing bass guitar and violin. I am in Maryland tonight and thought I might Google John and try to connect. Unfortunately, a bit too late. Catch you on the flip side, old friend!

I knew Beard at North Texas State University. He was always up for fun and good times...Ready for jovial mischief making and experimental adventures!
One could not easily miss noticing John in any environment.
His appearance was striking, Like some fiery giant Viking warrior-Large and commanding in stature with a huge, flaming red beard and long flowing locks and loud booming voice. He was really quite a sweet teddy bear of a man, thoughtful and kind hearted.
We shared lots of laughs together along with many college friends at NTSU.
Wishing all of his Maryland family and Texas family best regards and sympathy.
