Kathleen Haight

Mrs. Kathleen P. Haight, age 96, of Winfield, died Sunday, December 3, 2006, at the Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster.

Born April 29, 1910, in Berrett, Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar E. and Bertha B. Buckingham Pickett. She was the wife of the late Robert W. Haight Sr., who predeceased her in 1997.

Kitty Bob, as she was known to many, was a school teacher for many years in Carroll County. She was a longtime member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. She had participated in the Women of the Word Bible study group, O.W.L. group, as well as the Vacation Bible school program at the church. She was a charter member of the Ladies' Auxiliary to Winfield Fire Company. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Prudence Chapter No. 95, and had been a former member of the Manchester Senior Citizens Club.

She is survived by a son-in-law, R. Gilbert Buckman Jr. of Mount Airy; daughter-in-law, Eileen H. Haight of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Tracy Dunne, Brett B. Haight, Todd Buckman, Michael R. Haight and Daniel R. Haight; and great-grandchildren, Courtney and Christopher Dunne, Ethan Haight, Benjamin Buckman and Braxton Haight.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Dianne E. Buckman; son, Robert W. Haight Jr.; and sister, Helen Bohr.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Haight Funeral Home and Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville, with the Rev. Judy Emerson and the Rev. Wallace "Bud" Lusk officiating.

Interment will follow in Old Oakland Cemetery, Sykesville.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, and Winfield Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
