Kathy Curfman Obituary

Miss Kathy Sue Curfman, 48, of 107 Glenn Hill Court, Union Bridge, was stricken at her home and died Sunday, Aug. 3, at University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore.

Born Aug. 23, 1954, in New Windsor, she was a daughter of the late Claude E. Sr. and M. Kathleen Martin Curfman.

Miss Curfman was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Union Bridge.

She was a member of Union Bridge Volunteer Fire Co. and Ladies Auxiliary, and New Windsor Volunteer Fire Co. and Ladies Auxiliary. She held various positions in the ladies auxiliary of the Maryland State Firemen's Association.

She was formerly employed with the Arc of Frederick County, and then in housekeeping at Carroll Lutheran Village, Westminster.

She enjoyed playing bingo in many communities, particularly at the Pleasant Valley Fire Hall.

Surviving are two brothers, C. Edward Curfman and wife Phyllis of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Eugene C. Curfman of Union Bridge; two aunts, Lettie Cartzendafner of Taneytown, and Thelma Ecker of New Windsor; and one uncle, Charles H. Curfman of New Windsor.

She was preceded in death by infant twin sister, Karen Curfman.

The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge, on Tuesday, Aug. 5, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where memorial services by the Union Bridge Fire Co. and Ladies Auxiliary will be held at 8:45 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Richard L. Michael, her pastor, and Deacon Charles E. Barnhart Jr., of Keysville Lutheran Church, officiating.

Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Uniontown.

Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Union Bridge Vol. Fire Company, P.O. Box 1050, Union Bridge, Md. 21791; or New Windsor Vol. Fire Company, P.O. Box 247, New Windsor, Md. 21776.
