Mary Stup Obituary
She was the wife of Robert Samuel Stup, who died Aug. 10, 1993. They were married July 19, 1943.
Born Aug. 1, 1924, in Frederick, she was a daughter of the late Chester L. and Dorothy D. Crummitt Redmond.
Mrs. Stup was a member of Araby United Methodist Church, where she had served as superintendent of Sunday school, was Bible school director and participated in many other church activities.
She was a 1941 graduate of the new Frederick High School.
She had formerly owned and operated Stup's Garage, Used Cars and Salvage Yard, which she and her husband had founded in 1950.
Surviving are six children, Robert David Stup and wife Mary Alice of Frederick, James Curtis Stup and wife Beverly of Scottsdale, Pa., Mary Ann Martin and husband Dean, Carolyn Sue McKnight, Bonnie Louise Kanode and husband Herbert, and Lynn Marie Miller and husband William, all of Frederick; two brothers, Chester L. Redmond Jr. and wife Nellie, and Russell Richard Redmond and wife Hilda, all of Frederick; 13 grandchildren, Matthew C. Rice and wife Janina, Amanda Elizabeth Stup, Stephanie Ann McKnight, Katie Marie McKnight, Tara Elizabeth Kanode, Tiffany Sue Kanode, Robert S. Stup II, Jessica Marie Stup, Kelli Nicole Stup, James C. Stup III, Jennifer Marie Miller, Laura Lynn Miller, and Rebecca Christine Miller; two stepgrandchildren, Randy L. Suter and Bruce Suter; two great-grandchildren, Allyson Rice and Allysa Rice; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, in Etchison Memorial Chapel at the funeral home. Mrs. Stup's pastor, the Rev. Elza M. Hurst of Araby United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Araby United Methodist Church, 4619 Araby Church Road, Frederick, Md. 21704.
