Nancy McCorkle Obituary
Mrs. Nancy Yvonne McCorkle, 69, of Thurmont, died Sunday, July 30 at the Harrisburg Hospital. She was the wife of Dr. Henry L. McCorkle, who died November 14, 1993.
Born November 26, 1936, in Legore, she was the daughter of the late Carrollton "Stumpy" E. and Martha V. Redmond Davis.
Mrs. McCorkle graduated from Walkersville High School, class of 1954, and from St. Joseph's Nursing School in Towson, Md., class of 1958. She was a retired registered nurse from Gettysburg Hospital. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Thurmont, the Ladies of the Moose in Gettysburg, Pa., and the Edwin Creeger Jr. Post No. 168 American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are five children, Bernard C. Wehage of Gettysburg, Pa., Joseph H. Wehage and wife Patty of Thurmont, Elizabeth D. Wehage Shenk and husband James L. of Ortanna, Pa., Teresa A. Wehage Barnes and husband Lee of Phoenix, Ariz. and Melissa Y. McCorkle Collins and fianc_ Alex Gerena of Frederick; five step-children, Henry McCorkle Jr., Howard McCorkle, Heather McCorkle and Heidi McCorkle; six grandchildren, Jennifer Wehage-Wooters, Patricia Barnes, Trista Barnes, Joseph Wehage Jr., Megan McCorkle and Mia McCorkle-Collins; and one great-granddaughter, Madisyn Barnes.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Wehage, and two grandchildren, Marcos Gerena and Julianna McCorkle.
Mrs. McCorkle is at the Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Homes, P.A., 615 East Main Street, Thurmont, where friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, August 2. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 3 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, North Church Street, Thurmont, with Reverend David Shaum as the celebrant.
Interment will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont. Bearers will be Joseph Wehage Jr. a grandson, James L. Shenk a son-in-law, Jason West, Jordan Wooters, Samuel Cool, and Alex Gerena.
The family requests that memorials be made in memory of Mrs. McCorkle to the American Heart Association, Memorial & Tribute Processing Center, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.
