Nancy Shoemaker

1932 - 2016

Nancy Jane Shoemaker, 84, of Westminster, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, in San Antonio, TX. Born July 5, 1932 in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Thelma R. Duvall Fritz and Carroll W. Fritz. She was the wife of the late Robert H. Shoemaker who died October 5, 2011.

Before retiring she worked 30 years for the Carroll County Government in the Planning Department, where she worked for George Grier, Landon Burns and Ned Cueman.

She was a member of St. Benjamin's Lutheran Church where she was on the Church Council and taught Sunday School. She was a 1949 graduate of Westminster High School, Board member of the Carroll County Farm Museum and member of the Beta Sigma Phi International Society.

She is survived by sons Thomas H. Shoemaker (Kay Karl) of Myrtle Beach, SC and David A. Shoemaker and wife Joyce of Converse, TX, sister Caroline P. Gilbert and husband Gary of Riva, MD, grandchildren Nicole Alexander of San Antonio, TX, Joshua Shoemaker of San Antonio, TX and Tara Shoemaker of Huntington Beach, CA, a great-grandson Carlos Muniz, a great-granddaughter Samantha Alexander; 5 nieces Kelly Vasquenza, Gretchen Burke, Cynthia S. Lofton, Jennifer Smith and Hilary S. Lambrecht.

She was predeceased by a sister Donna F. Fleming.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 4, 2016 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 5, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Benjamin's Lutheran Church, 700 Kriders Cemetery Rd., with her pastor, Rev. David Schafer officiating. Interment will follow in Kriders Cemetery. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services.
