Norman Black Obituary

Mr. Norman Wesley Black, 75, of 108 George St., Union Bridge, died suddenly Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Carroll County General Hospital in Westminster.

He was the husband of Ruth Anna Albaugh Black, his wife of 55 years.

Born Feb. 20, 1926, in Frederick County, he was a son of the late Roy C. and Frances Bohn Black.

He was a 1945 graduate of Elmer A. Wolfe High School.

He was a member of Union Bridge Church of the Brethren and the church fellowship committee.

He was employed at Farmer's Fertilizer and Feed Co., Union Bridge, from 1955 to 1964, and later with Lehigh Portland Cement Co. as a blending bin operator for 27 years, retiring in 1991.

He enjoyed woodworking, flea markets, sales and auctions.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mary Frances Weller and husband Herb, and Sandra Miller and husband Francis, all of Taneytown, and Audrey Bowman of Union Bridge; one son, J. Kenneth Black and wife Debbie of Union Bridge; one brother, Orville C. Black of Thurmont; seven grandchildren, Dennis Stambaugh, Shari Norris, Lisa Bruchey, Michelle Miller, Tricia Darnell, Dana Miller and Jeffrey Miller; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert D. Black, in 1987.

The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge, on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at Union Bridge Church of the Brethren, with the Revs. James Benedict and Anna Lease, his pastors, officiating.

Private interment will be in Pipe Creek Cemetery, Linwood, at the convenience of the family.
