Paul Hoffman

Mr. Paul Meredith Hoffman, 77, of near Libertytown, died suddenly Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at his home. Born April 12, 1930 on the family farm in Frederick County, he was the son of the late Samuel William and Jessie May Snyder Hoffman. He was the husband of Betty C. Morgan Hoffman, his wife of 56 years.

Mr. Hoffman was a dairy farmer until 1971 and was then a mechanic with Evergreen Point Motor Co., Frederick and later retired from H.B. Duvall, Frederick. He was a former member of Prospect United Methodist Church and more recently a member Marvin Chapel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed working on antique tractors and helping his sons on their farms.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne E. and Daphne Hoffman of near Libertytown, Michael A. and Kathy Hoffman of Emmitsburg; grandchildren, Andrew Hoffman, Denton Hoffman, Riley Hoffman, Brooke Ridinger and husband, Jason, Bradley Hoffman and Bridget Hoffman; and sisters, Hallie Anderson of Littlestown, Pa., and Betty Lambert of Westminster. He was predeceased by sister, Ruth Thompson; and brothers, George and Rudell Hoffman.

A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Road, Libertytown, with the Rev. Susan Boehl, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12.
