Rachel Wachter

Mrs. Rachel Fifer Wachter, 62, of Frederick, died Monday, December 25, 2006, at Homewood at Crumland Farms. She was the wife of Ronald G. "Po Po" Wachter.

Born in Baltimore, on July 2, 1944, she was a daughter of Mary Fries Ringgold Fifer, of Frederick, and the late Dr. Jesse Showalter Fifer.

Rachel was a local, well known hairdresser in Frederick and had been associated with several local salons. She was a member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren.

Surviving, in addition to her husband and mother, are her four children, John M. McGuffin and wife Lauren and Rebecca Cooper and husband Thomas, all of Frederick, C. Matthew McGuffin and wife Julie of Boonsboro and Aaron J. Wachter and wife Katie of Frederick; one brother, Jay Fifer and wife Virginia of Middletown; three sisters, Rogina Isaacs and husband Ray and Rebecca Fifer Williams and husband Larry, all of Walkersville, and Robin F. Nelson of Newport News, Va.; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by her sister-in-law and husband, Doris Wachter Wenschhof and Larry of Frederick.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 27, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 28, at 10 a.m., from the funeral home. The Rev. Beverly C. Stang, chaplain of Homewood, will officiate. Interment will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
