Robert Harmon Obituary

Mr. Robert E. Harmon, 85, of Frederick, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, at Golden Living, Frederick. He was preceded in death by his wife Lorna Mae (Roman) Harmon in September 2005.

Born on Feb. 1, 1923 in Union Town, Pa., he was a son of the late Lewis and Dorothy (Tishue) Harmon.

Mr. Harmon was employed as a finance officer with the CIA, allowing him to travel around the world. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. He enjoyed playing pool, cards and faithfully attended Frederick County Senior Center.

He is survived by his daughter, Christine Elizabeth "Chris" Patterson and husband Frank, of Frederick; two sons, Stephen W. Sweet and wife Bibi of Gaithersburg and Robert E. Harmon Jr. and wife Norma of Hawaii; two granddaughters, Jennifer Needle and husband Scott, Laura Dietrich and husband William; five great-grandchildren, Allison, Adam, Caleb, Lydia and Seth Needle. He will also be remembered by a dear friend; Joleen Hart. He was preceded in death by brothers, William and John Harmon.

Friends and family are invited to gather for a celebration of life from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at Chris and Frank Patterson's home in Frederick. Call 301-788-6074 for the address and directions.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to either the Frederick Senior Center, 1440 Taney Ave., Frederick, MD 21702 or to Teach Autistic Children Today / TACT, P.O. Box 487 , Braddock Heights, MD 21714-0487 in honor of Robert's great-granddaughter.
