It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stephen Bruce Braun, 76, of
Frederick, Maryland. Stephen, better known as Steve, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Stephen passed away on August 21st, 2025 at the Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy, MD.
Stephen was born on December 22, 1948 in Richmond, Virginia to Lila Lee (Mathis) Braun and Lowell Braun. He was the oldest of four children.
Stephen graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1969. He married his longtime family friend and high school sweetheart, Linda (Triesler) Braun, on April 7, 1973. Together, they lived in New Hampshire and Maryland before settling in
Frederick, Maryland. Steve worked for Browning Pools and Offenbacher, before creating Backyard Creations. He poured his heart into the work he did and the people he met along the way. Steve owned and operated Backyard Creations until his passing.
Steve's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His love of the Christmas season was contagious to those around him. Along with Christmas, he loved the winter months and always looked forward to any snow in the forecast. Steve was an avid Washington Redskins Fan, cheering them on through the good times and bad. He had a lifetime love of New England and all of its charms and natural beauty. He loved visiting the white mountains and Mt. Washington in the fall to see the changing foliage. Steve loved trying new restaurants and sharing his favorite foods with family and friends. He especially loved visiting his brother's home in the Northern Neck of Virginia and getting to spend time with family.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Linda Braun, daughter Emily and her husband Steve, and his grandchildren Brennan and Sophie. He is also survived by his sister Susan (Ralph) Atkinson and brothers Jeff (Maria) Braun and Alan (Beth) Braun, along with many nieces and nephews.
Stephen is predeceased by his parents, Lowell and Lila Lee Braun and his niece Jaime Atkinson.
Family and Friends are welcome to a celebration of life for Stephen Braun on September 19th from 4-6pm at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North,
Hagerstown, MD.
