Sterling Stouter

1939 - 2025

Sterling Samuel Stouter, age 85 of Emmitsburg passed away peacefully at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown, MD on Thursday October 2, 2025. Born December 22, 1939, he was the son of the late Melvin Francis and Carrie Eva (Turner) Stouter. He was the loving husband of Ellen (Kint) Stouter for nearly 65 years, they were married December 17, 1960.

Sterling worked as a technician at the Thurmont water treatment plant until his retirement. He was a longtime member of Friends Creek Church of God. He was a wildlife enthusiast; he enjoyed camping with his family and watching the Baltimore Orioles. Besides his wife, Ellen, he is survived by his children, Tracy Miller and husband Robert (Bobby) of Sabillasville, MD and Robert (Bob) Stouter, Sr and wife Mary of Emmitsburg; grandchildren, Robert (Robby) Miller of Roanoke, VA, Cordell (Bo) Miller of Waynesboro, PA, Christina (Chrissy) Wisz and husband Charlie of Smithsburg, MD, Anna (Annie) Willette and husband Sean of Nikiski, Alaska, Robert (Bubba) Stouter, Jr and wife Resa of Williamsport PA and Andrea Laster of Waynesboro, Pa; great grandchildren, Anthony, Genie, Evelyn, Leonna, Addy, Emma and Poppy. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Betty Smith and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers: Wilbur (Bub) Stouter and wife Grace, Robert (Pooch) Stouter and wife Francis, Sister: Ruby Hurley and husband Harold, Sister-in-law Bonnie Kint, and Brother-in-law Jerry Smith.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Friends Creek Church of God, 7650 Friends Creek Rd., Emmitsburg, MD, with Pastor Don Conley officiating. Interment will follow at Friends Creek Church Cemetery.
