Viola Ahalt Obituary

Viola "Tootsie" Fisher Ahalt, 82, of Frederick died Monday, June 5 at her home. She was the wife of George Meredith Ahalt who died September 18, 1987. Born in Thurmont, September 17, 1923, she was the daughter of the late E. Wilson and Mary J. Carbaugh Fisher. She was employed at Frederick Hosiery and in the Hood College post office until her retirement. She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, Frederick and was in charge of the nursery for over 35 years in the Sunday school.

She is survived by one son, Jay M. Ahalt of Frederick; one daughter, Gay Iris Ahalt of Frederick; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call anytime Wednesday, June 7 at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St. Middletown. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 8 from the funeral home. Rev. David Oravec, her pastor, will officiate. Interment will be made in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Nursery Department of Evangelical Lutheran Church, 35 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701, Frederick Oncology Center, 400 W. 7th St., Frederick, MD 21701 or to the Hospice of Frederick Co., P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21705.
