Andrew Paul Kosko Sr., 79, of Spotsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, after a long battle with heart disease.
He was born on Jan. 13, 1937 in Roanoke, the son of George and Elizabeth Kosko; he was a lifelong resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Survivors include his children: Pamela Kosko Haskins and her husband, Dr. Paul Haskins; Kendra Kosko Isaacson and her husband, Dr. David Isaacson; and Andrew Paul Kosko Jr.; his grandchildren, Emily Courter Armentrout, Jackson Paul Haskins, Andrew Maddox Haskins, and Katherine Sloane Isaacson; identical twin, George Kosko; as well as his sister, Jeanne Light; and his younger brother, Jimmy Kosko.
In his early years, Mr. Kosko was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Varsity golf team at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and then played professionally. Mr. Kosko was on the PGA tour briefly and then became the operator and head golf professional at Ole Monterey Golf Club in Roanoke. Many years later, he was a pro at the Medal of Honor Golf Course on the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia. As a young man, Mr. Kosko served our country in Army intelligence during the Korean crisis. For his third and final profession, he worked at various dealerships in the Fredericksburg area selling cars over a thirty-year period.
A memorial service and interment will take place in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Senior Visitors Program at Mental Health America of Fredericksburg.
