Barbara B. Decatur
Barbara Brooks Decatur, 64, of Fredericksburg died Sunday, July 26, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital. She was the widow of Wayne C. Decatur.
Barbara was a native of Bowling Green and the daughter of the late Everett "Peck" and Doris Rollins Brooks. She was a graduate of James Monroe High School. She retired from the federal government as a program analyst with the Department of the Army. Prior to retirement, she served as a program executive office liaison for communications. Barbara was currently working as the office manager for Dennis K. Dodson State Farm Insurance in Fredericksburg. She was a member of Bowling Green United Methodist Church. She also served as a member of the Central Virginia ASA Hall of Fame committee and was very active in Virginia softball with her late husband, Wayne, who died in 2003.
Survivors include her sister, Delores Miller and her husband, Dale, of Fredericksburg; her nephew, Jeffrey Roles of Fredericksburg; her nieces, Heather Grant and Kim Miller, both of Spotsylvania County; her brother-in-law, Tommy Decatur and his wife, Pat, of Spotsylvania; her sister-in-law, Phyllis Ann Wine of Stafford County; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, with the Rev. William "Bill" Duganne officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bowling Green.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Decatur, Durward Matherly, Todd Sullivan, Linwood B. Sullivan, Dennis K. Dodson, Dennis "Duke" Dodson, Lenwood Groves and Leroy Killinger.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, at the funeral home.
