Barbara Faye Bell Dickinson

Barbara Dickinson, 87, of Spotsylvania went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, surrounded by her children.

Barbara was born on July 31, 1936 in Cave City, Arkansas. Although she never finished high school, she passed the GED exam effortlessly. Barbara worked many jobs of all types; the most noted was in the pharmacy of a retail drug store where she met the love of her life. She was later a clerk at the Fredericksburg Treasurer's Office and the secretary at Fredericksburg Bible Institute.

Barbara was an excellent old-fashioned cook. She was devoted to learning all she could about the Bible and was an exceptional biblical teacher. Barbara was a pillar of her community and church. She was "mom" to so many who loved her. She loved with her whole heart freely and unselfishly and brought joy to those around her.

Survivors include her four children, Loretta Fraley, Keith Thompson (Elaine), Debra Paessler, and Robert Dickinson; grandchildren Benjamin West, Lanie Beth Sinclair, Leslie Wilkins, Matthew Paessler, Gabrielle Nelson, and Isaac Fraley; great-grandchildren Rowan Sinclair, Darby Sinclair, Lilith Parker, Azrael Nelson, Scarlett Nelson, Eleanor Wilkins, and Matthew Wilkins, Jr.; along with so many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maynard Bell and Burlie Marie Bell; brothers Rayburn Bell and Lonnie Bell; son David Dickinson; grandchild Callen Fraley; and her husband of 53 years and the love of her life, Gene Dickinson.

A service will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Interment will at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15 in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
