Clyde J. Beers
Clyde Joseph Beers, 78, of Fredericksburg died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Mary Washington Hospital.
A graduate of St. Francis College in Loretta, Pa., he received his Master of Business Administration from Richmond School of Business.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
He retired as a geophysicist after more than 20 years of working and serving with the U.S. government. He also taught with the Navy P.A.C.E. program for three years.
He served as past president of both the Spotsylvania Lions Club and the Fredericksburg Rotary Club. Other memberships include the Fredericksburg Wine Society, the Rappahannock Investment Club and other organizations.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Frantz Beers; a son, Fred J. Beers, and his wife, Sherry Beers, of Richmond; daughters Melinda B. Cook of Dale City and Trina M. Bland of the home; a brother, Rex Beers, of Rome, N.Y.; and grandchildren Kimberly Cook of Germany and Jonathan E. Beers and Emily M. Beers, both of Richmond.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet L. Beers, and a son, Mark J. Beers.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A funeral will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Ashville, Pa., on Friday, Jan. 24, with burial to be in Altoona, Pa.
Memorials may be made to the St. Patrick Catholic School building fund, 9151 Elys Ford Road, Fredericksburg, Va. 22407.
