Dale Sisson Obituary

Dale Sisson, Sr.

Dale W. Sisson, Sr., 78, of King George passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 14, 2026. Born in Washington, DC, Dale moved to King George as a teenager and spent the rest of his life in and amongst the community that he loved. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother who cherished every member of his extended family. As a deacon at Round Hill Baptist Church, Dale took his role as a Christ-follower and servant of God to heart and worked each and every day to serve others.

After completing his time at King George High School, Dale went to work as a Lineman at Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (formerly Virginia Electric Cooperative) in Bowling Green, VA. Soon after going to work at the co-op, he was drafted into the Army and served in the 101st Airborne as a decorated member of the Pathfinder platoon in Vietnam. Awarded the Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, and numerous commendations, Dale was a true patriot and war hero. He returned to work at the co-op immediately following his service in Vietnam where he worked for 47 years, retiring as New Services Construction Supervisor. Dale loved his co-op family and stayed in touch with them daily.

Dale and his wife Myrtle were married in November 1968, having been brought together by his lifelong best friend and "brother", Robert "Buck" Minter. Dale and Myrtle were inseparable, and shared the same love this Valentine's Day as they had since they were married 57 years ago. Together, they poured their all into building their family and raising their two sons; instilling in them the values of hard work, integrity, service and love for others.

Among Dale's most prized roles was being Grandad. Dale's grandchildren were his "pride and joy" and he loved them endlessly. Over the years, there were many others who adopted Dale as their own Grandad, especially in his horse family, and he meant so much to all of them.

Dale is survived by his wife of 57 years, Myrtle Minter Sisson; his sons, Dale Sisson, Jr. (Tina) and Mike Sisson, Sr. (Alice); his sisters, Bonnie Rollins, Carol Porter (Tony) and Pam Garcia (Nicki); his brother, Dickie Sisson (Denise); his grandchildren, Bradley Sisson (Cailin), Jenna Sisson (Peter Cottle), Kyle Sisson (Rachel) and Mike Sisson, Jr.; his step grandchildren, Emma Pallotti, Joshua Pallotti (Ireland), Lily Kimbrell (William) and Matthew Pallotti; his sister-in-law, Elaine Minter; his brothers-in law Jake Minter (Sarah), Ed Minter (Katrina), and Steve Minter; many special nieces and nephews; and last but not least his loyal pup and riding partner, Sadie.

The family will receive friends at Round Hill Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 18th from 5 to 8 pm. A funeral service will follow at the church on Thursday, February 19th at 11 am, with Pastor Josh Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Round Hill Baptist Church Building Fund.
