Frank Harding Jett, Sr.

Frank Harding Jett, Sr., born August 5, 1922 to Goolrick and Clara Sullivan Jett in White Oak, Virginia passed from life on this earth to life in heaven on July 19, 2021. He was a builder: a builder of homes and churches, builder of lives and relationships through love and kindness, investing in his family, friends, and anyone God placed in his path.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, he loved God and committed his life to His service. This was his calling in life. This was his ministry. Frank was active at Hollywood Church of the Brethren and in the Gideons. He was a member of the Patawomeck Tribe. As a flight engineer in the Army Air Forces, he flew over 900 hours on the Aleutian Chain in WWII ferrying troops and supplies. He was stationed in Adak with the 42nd and 54th Troop Carrier Squadrons and flew to Kiska and Attu that were occupied by the Japanese.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Elizabeth Andes Jett, youngest daughter, Dawn Elaine Jett Riley, son-in-law Jeffrey Chewning, his mother, father, three brothers (Isaac, Lorraine, Joe) and two sisters (Maude Alsop and Nancy Reeves). He is survived by daughter Marilyn Jett Tate (Tom Tate), daughter Gaynelle Jett Chewning Scott (Courtney Scott), son Frank Harding Jett, Jr. (Susanna Tingle Jett), and son-in-law Michael Riley (Lara). He is survived by eleven grandchildren: Josh Tate (Arlene), Andrew Tate (Brooke), Sara Tate Merrill (Robert), Nick Tate (Hannah), Sarah Chewning McIntosh (Paul), Sara Jett (Dave), Frank Jett III, Chris Jett (Emily), Jessica Riley Sundstrom (Jed), Melissa Riley, Michael Riley, Jr. (Jessica). He is survived by 17 great-grandchildren ranging in age from two months to 18 years: Naomi Grace Tate, Everett Tate, Winston Tate, Fielding Tate, Cora Merrill, Caroline McIntosh, Rebecca McIntosh, Jefferson McIntosh, Cecily Jett, Jack Jett, Rorie Jett, Brian 0'MaIley, Connor O'MaIIey, Katie O'MaIIey, Meghan O'Malley, Kileigh Sundstrom, Liam Sundstrom, Leyland Riley, Elijah Riley, and Ezra Riley.

Many thanks are given to our wonderful caregivers Carolyn Frazier, Dee McClintock, Emily Migliacci, Ethel Johnson, Joannie EagIe, LuAnne Clatterbuck, Sandra Harris and Sylvia Parks. They made it possible for Frank to live life fully and joyfully at home during this last chapter.

Many thanks also to MWH Hospice for their valuable assistance and Dr. Patrick McManus and his staff.

We are so sorry for you in this time of personal loss. We knew Frank most of our lives...knew him as a kind and humble man who was a friend to everyone. He walked his faith. We have grown up with all of the family, and we will hold you in prayer as you celebrate his last journey.
