Guy G. Smith
Guy G. Smith, 67, a Washington, D.C. native and longtime Stafford County resident, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, after a long illness.
Guy was the son of Clarence and Artenia Smith of Washington, D.C., and a graduate of Georgetown University. He was a captain in the U.S. Army and served as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he served in the Virginia National Guard as an instrument instructor pilot.
After leaving the military, he was a Motorcycle Safety Foundation instructor. He was also a lifelong professional horseman.
Guy was a patient and dedicated teacher and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Peggy; and his daughter, Samantha D'Alessio and her husband, Tony, of Arlington. He will be greatly missed by his beloved grandchildren, Drew and Gabriella.
The funeral will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to marthastable .org.
