John H. Reynolds

John Howard Reynolds, Lt. Colonel USMC (Ret.), 77, went to his heavenly reward on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. He was born on April 16, 1948, in Twiggs County, Georgia to James A. Reynolds and Ruth Martin Reynolds. He was a graduate of HV Jenkins High School, Savannah, Georgia.

A graduate of the United States Naval Academy in 1970, his service selection was the US Marine Corps, and he served honorably for 23 years. During his career, Lt. Colonel Reynolds served with 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, Guard Officer at Marine Barracks Panama Canal Zone, Shore Party Battalion of the First Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, Manpower Division at Headquarters Marine Corps, Washington, DC and as the Executive officer of 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines in Camp Le Jeune, North Carolina.

Lt. Colonel Reynolds attended the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, graduating with a master's degree in operations research systems analysis in 1979. He also attended the USMC Command and Staff College as well as The Armed Forces Staff College.

Lt. Colonel Reynolds was the Commanding Officer of 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island. Upon completion of his time in Parris Island, Lt. Colonel Reynolds returned to Panama to serve the US Southern Command as the Deputy Director for Counterdrug Operations. He retired from active service in 1993 and took a position with the Center for Naval Analyses (CNA) working with the US Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory in Quantico, VA as well as projects in Kuwait, Qatar and the Al Anbar Province of Iraq. He retired from CNA in 2019.

John was a much beloved husband to his wife of 55 years, Paticia; a wonderful father to his daughter, Emily Anne Reynolds; and an outstanding grandfather to his grandsons, Caleb Reynolds-Snell (Sgt. USMC) and Jonathan Hendrickson. He will be missed by many friends and family.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford. A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 4 at Semper Fidelis Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Wounded Warrior Project or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
