June Elaine Romedy

June Romedy of Lake of the Woods, Virginia died Christmas Day at 10:30 PM. She was born in Bangor, Pennsylvania, on June 19, 1927, to the late Burton and Roxie Maginnis. She was also proceeded in death by her husband, Colonel C.S. ( Brooks) Romedy Jr., her brother, Commander Hayden Maginnis, and his wife, Betty Maginnis; and two nephews, Robert and David Maginnis.

She is survived by a daughter, Beth Howell ( married to Sam Boles), and a son, Brooks Romedy, plus four grandchildren: Evan Howell, Brooke Howell Maurer (Josh), Brooks H. Romedy, and Lainey Romedy.

Mrs. Romedy graduated from Bangor High School and Lankeneau School of Nursing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as part of the Cadet Nurse Corps of World War II.

June was known for her gentle strength as a steadfast military spouse, a creative decorator, a kind nature, and a devoted mother and grandmother. She was voted most popular in high school and most likely to jitterbug in the pool in nursing school. She loved Christmas and often shopped and prepared for Christmas as early as July. She enjoyed life, lunch bunch with her friends, golfing, and jet skiing well into her 80s.

She will be buried next to her husband in Arlington National Cemetery. Funeral services will be at Arlington National Cemetery on April 10 at 1 p.m. Viewing will be private. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake of the Woods Fire and Rescue, 1021 Lake View Parkway, Locust Grove, VA 22508.
