Linda D. Alvilhiera
Linda Dianne DeShields Alvilhiera, 60, of Stafford County passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at her home.
Linda was a civil service employee who worked at Marine Corps Base Quantico for more than 30 years. Linda was a fun-loving person who enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the beach. She also enjoyed dancing.
Linda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Anthony J. Alvilhiera; her brother Robert DeShields; sister Frances Dye; and her mother, Ethel DeShields.
Linda is survived by her two children, Tonya Henderson and husband Dan and Mark McCain; four grandchildren, Kyle and Jordan Henderson and Megan and Gavin McCain; three brothers, Raymond and Randy Dietzel and Walter DeShields; and two sisters, Ann Sullivan and Betty Saville-Adams. She is also survived by her closest and dearest friends. Linda will be truly missed.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Home, Stafford Chapel, 186 Shelton Shop Road, where a funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 23. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.

Good Morning Sis ! Just sitting here with you on my mind at 5:45am... Here it is Feb. I can't believe it will soon be a year since you left us all ! New Years has come and gone ! You were really on my mind because I know where you & Butch would have been bringing in the "New Year... In Charlestown ! Tommy and I talk of you alot ! We haven't been to Charlestown but once since you left us. We would love to go but it is hard going without you ! Haven't talked to Tonya lately. Really need to call her ! Oh I have soooo much to talk to you about ! I hate it without you here !!! Mark is doing good ! You would be sooooo proud of him & Tonya sis..... You are always on my mind ! Linda, Boy I just can't explain how different Christmas is without you.. We sure miss you dearly. The boys are growing so fast and Jordan is becoming more like you every day. I know you would be proud of how Mark and Tonya have pulled together to get thru all of this.
I talked to Paula and she was telling me about how you two would have gotten together this week, had lunch and exchanged gifts. She tells me she is doing fine but I know that this is a tough time of the year without you here.
I just wanted to say how much we all love and miss you and Tony.

Linda I know you are having the best Christmas up there is heaven with our saviour. Please give Mama and Grandma a hug and kiss from me. I miss you and it still hard to believe that you are not right next door. It still doesn't seem real… Thanksgiving is upon us and you won't be here to share it with us. I know you and Tony's spirit will be with us as we celebrate Thanksgiving with Mark and the kids at your house.
I will miss your cooking; I will miss the time we all spent together. Tonya still has her moments and she still talks to you every night but I know the next couple of months are going to be especially hard on her. My Dad's (your Uncle French) birthday was Monday, Oct. 24th. When I thought of him, I was thinking of you and all the other family members who have been reunited in Heaven & the joyous reunion you must have had.
I saw Mark last week and had a nice talk with him. What a great job you did as a parent. He and Tonya have grown into sweet, wonderful adults.

I remember many good times with Linda as we grew up. I remember swinging on the swing that hung from that old tree? After Linda & I got older she let me do all her babysitting (Mark & Tonya) & payed well! She also would allow my boyfriend (now husband of 30+ yrs) to visit me while I was babysitting. What a great Aunt! I have many many more happy memories.. Linda, we love you!

Linda you will be missed more than you would ever realize. We have been more than an Aunt and niece, I would like to believe we were good friends as well. I had the wonderful pleasure of working with Linda at Family Housing. Linda was a great person and lived life to the fullest. Linda and I were friends in our teenage years. I remember going to parties at the big white house where her grandmother lived on Route 610. Though I hadn't seen her for years, I am in total shock. My prayers are with her family as I know she will be missed.
