Paul A. Burruss
Paul Augustus Burruss, 85, of Bumpass passed away Saturday, July 3, 2004, at a local hospital.
He was a retired farmer and equipment operator with Virginia Dept. of Transportation and a lifelong member of Elk Creek Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter, gardener and fisherman. He was the son of the late George A. and Daisy E. Gibson Burruss and was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Frances Pearl Burruss; two daughters, Mary Chewning and her husband, Doug, and Shirley Burruss; a grandson, Paul Chewning and his wife, Amanda; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Nicholas Paul Chewning; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m Monday, July 5, at Elk Creek Baptist Church, Mineral. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, at the church with the Rev. Gerald R. Chancellor and the Rev. Charles Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa, is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elk Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 5916 Kentucky Springs Rd., Mineral, Va. 23117.
