Paul Gabler Obituary

Paul Edward Gabler

Paul Edward Gabler 76, of Fredericksburg, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, after enduring 11 years with Alzheimer's disease.

Paul was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Lloyd and Eleanor Gabler; sister, Annise Gabler; stepdaughter, Janine Richardson; and wife, Patricia.

Paul leaves his wife, Andrea "Andi" Gabler; son Paul E. Gabler, II; stepchildren Jaymie Frankel (Claire McCullis), Meagen Dwyer (Dom Falco), Penny Kuzmich; and grandchildren Jackson Frankel, Alli Dwyer, Sophie Falco, and Tony Falco.

Paul served in the Army as Chief Warrant Officer 4, retiring after 41 years of active/reserve service. Paul was awarded the high honor of the Legion of Merit. Paul transitioned to government service as an Intelligence Officer at the Defense Intelligence Agency, retiring in 2014.

Paul was bigger than life. He proudly ran with the bulls for his 50th birthday, ending with 6 bulls running over him, breaking his hip. He loved good food and was a great cook. His taste in clothes was unique, loving safari attire. He collected and always wore a Borsalino fedora to work. Paul loved his Harley, his bird dogs, Enzo, Zeppe, and Spio, and his shotguns. He was known for his quirky sense of humor, especially his sayings. There were many Paul-isms that entertained us all. Paul led a life of adventures, could entertain a room of people with his humor, had a n infectious laugh, and was loved by many.

Paul progressed over 11 years with sweetness. He was lovingly cared for by the caregivers at

Hughes Home and the Mary Washington Hospice. Their care and kindness is greatly appreciated.

A graveside service will be held at Quantico National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, it's requested memorial gifts be made in Paul's name to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Richmond Chapter, or Mary Washington Hospice.

You were right; "We're all in this together and nobody's getting out alive."

Rest well, dear Paul, and… have an airborne day.
