Paul Hayes Obituary
Paul Hayes, 92, of Fredericksburg, died peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Spring Arbor Assisted Living.
Paul was predeceased by his wife, Barbara (1934 – 2006); son, Eric (1959 – 2009); and daughter, Amy (1964 – 2024). He is survived by his son, Jeffrey; Jeffrey's partner, Tom; two grandsons, Robert and Christopher Walden; and their families. In 2009, Paul married Bonnie Knudsen Hayes. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; her daughters, Sara and Rachel; and their families.
A service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Christ Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, VA, with Pastor Anne Jones Martin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be private.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Webb Institute Heritage Society, 298 Crescent Beach Road, Glen Cove, NY 11542 or Micah Ministries Jeremiah Project, PO Box 3277, Fredericksburg, VA 22402 or micahfredericksburg.org.

I did not know Paul; this note is for his wife, Bonnie. I have pleasant memories of Bonnie and her first husband, Denny from the 1970s when we were all new in town: the bridge club, Bonnie as my dental hygienist, and their purchase of a townhouse from me and my first wife, Eleanor. I lost track of you after Denny's funeral. Bonnie, I am glad you found another husband. I hope he made you as happy as I am with Mary, my second wife since 2018. Mary is the widow of a Dahlgren colleague, Larry Triola. Bonnie, I fear that you and I are about all that remains from our bridge Group. Besides Denny and Eleanor, Tom Pendergraph and Carolyn Cavanagh have passed away and Jack Cavanagh is in a Winchester nursing home near son Alan. He has suffered at least two strokes and is in poor condition according to Alan's wife. If there is anything Mary and I can do to help you, we can be reached at [email protected].
