Sandra Hope Abel

Sandra Hope Abel, 68, of Bealeton passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016, at her home.

Born Oct. 30, 1947, to the late Aubrey Richard Abel and Anna Marie Wheatley Abel, Sandra was well-known in the Remington community, having spent many years employed at the State Bank of Remington and more recently retired from The Fauquier Bank. She also enjoyed many years volunteering with the Remington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. Her kind, thoughtful spirit will be missed by family and friends.

She is survived by her aunt Elmer Mae "Punkin" Thorn of Remington; sister-in-law Donna Abel of Bealeton; niece Lara Abel Stein of Falls Church; and cousins Robert Wheatley of Remington, Alvin Thorn of Goldvein and Roy Peyton Thorn of Remington. She was also preceded in death by her brother, A. Warren Abel, and her nephew, Jason Patrick Abel.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Aug. 22, at Mount Holly Baptist Church, 6172 Sumerduck Road, Remington, VA 22734. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service begins at 11 a.m. Inurnment will take place in Mount Holly Church Cemetery. The Rev. Ashton Archer and the Rev. Chaz Campbell will officiate.
